Sailing the Whitsunday’s

Sailing the Whitsunday Island is in the top few choices of any travels to Australia. The Whitsunday’s are truly amazing. The Whitsunday’s is made up of 74 islands of which only eight are inhabited and are surrounded by one of the world’s seven natural wonders, the Great Barrier Reef.

The area has many attractions – Whitehaven beach is about 7km long and has the most amazing white sand that you will ever see. Learn scuba diving on some of the best reefs in the world. Snorkel among some 1500 species of fish and 400 types of coral. See nature at its awesome best with the beautiful Hill Inlet from the lookout.

The Whitsunday’s also have some magnificent Island resort. Hamilton Island is a very class island with all the luxuries of a 5 star resort including a airport and is like a little town on a island .It is the holiday destination of Australia’s rich and famous. South Molle Isalnd is also a luxury resort but is a little more of a party resort.

There are about 70 different cruises sailing the Whitsunday so you will have to pick the cruise that suits you. The big attraction with the backpacker is the 2 days, 2 nights cruises but down cruises are also available. Koala adventures “Pride of Airlie” has a name as being the party boat and it sails all day and then head to South Molle Island where you sleep at night. Then there are the Maxi sails where you sail onboard the large Maxi Cruises and many of these boats are from the America’s cup and you sleep on board, other cruises have you really hands on where you help with the sails and ropes and you become a real deck hand. Then there are the relaxing day trips where you leave in the morning and sail all day and your food and drinks are all inclusive in the price. The Camira is a excellent relaxing day trip with the food being first class. Fantasea take you to the Hardy Reef where they have a float and is a good way to see what the barrier reef has to offer.
