Airlie Beach HostelsAirlie Beach is one of the boom areas in Australia and there is a real shortage of land which means there has not been many new hostels built recently. The standard of hostels in Airlie Beach are not as high as other parts of Australia. The hostels here are fairly basic but in saying that they are still ok. All I am saying is that you will not find your 10/10 hostel here. Also with only a few hostels to chose from and Airlie Beach being a hot destination for backpackers, hostels are often booked out and it is highly recommended to book before you arrive in Airlie Beach.
Beaches Backpacking Resort – Shute Habour Rd – Airlie Beaches most famous hostel – located right in the heart of Airlie Beach – TV and mini refrigerator in each room - this is the party hostel – enjoy meeting people, enjoy a beer in the outdoor beer garden, enjoy a good time then this is the place for you – no one comes to Airlie without coming to beaches – warning the bar does close at 12 and it is a little noise up until then. If you are young and like a party and meeting other travelers then stay here, if you are a little fussy and after 12 hours sleep, go else where.
Backpackers by the Bay – 12 Hermitage Drive – clean and quiet hostel which is located 5 minute walk to the shops, nightlife and lagoon – has a swimming pool and good views and the oceans – run by locals – 4 people dorms – air conditioned rooms.
Magnums Backpackers – Shute Habour Rd – the other party hostel of Airlie but the accommodation is situated well out the back – very good hostel and close to the pick in airlie – clean rooms which are like little bungalows – located right in the middle of Airlie beaches main road – this place is a resort type set up with plenty of food courts – a bar with a beer garden – a night club – good place for couples to stay. Unfortunately this hostel can not be book through this web sites hostel booking tool but we believe it is a good hostel and we believe in telling travelers all the information about each destination. www.magnums.com.au
Koala Beach Resort – Shute Habour Rd – part of a hostel chain – good location in town – typical, basic backpackers hostel – rooms are out the back away from all the noise – pool.
Bush Village Boutique Backpackers - 2 St Martins Rd – best hostel in Airlie but it is located a little out of town where you can not really walk to the main street – do have a shuttle bus running backpackers there and back – perfect location for couples or those not wishing to party and are only in Airlie for a night before heading off on a cruise to the Whitsunday’s. |
