Gold Coast City is renowned for its sunny subtropical climate, popular surfing beaches, expansive waterway and canal systems, a skyline dominated by high-rise apartment buildings, active nightlife and wide variety of tourist attractions. The Gold Coast is situated in the southeast corner of Queensland, a one hours drive from Brisbane, which is the state capital. Surfers Paradise is a suburb and also the heart of the Gold Coast. Commonly known as Surfers, the suburb is famous for its many high-rise apartment buildings and wide surf beach. The central feature of the Surfers Paradise CBD is Cavill Mall, which runs through the centre of the main shopping precinct.
