Kuranda VillageKuranda Village is just 25km northwest of Cairns in Far North Queensland and is surrounded by World Heritage Rainforest. Visitors can travel to Kuranda on Kuranda’s Historic Scenic Railway or by car or bus, via the spectacular Kuranda Range Road or over the rainforest on Skyrail Rainforest Cableway.
The Barron falls which are an awesome sight to see. With a diverse mix of vibrant shops, famous markets and local artists. Wander through the beautiful rainforest setting and watch artists at work. Approx. 90 stalls provide an original range of handmade local arts & crafts plus Australian opals, gemstones, crocodile and kangaroo leather goods.
The original Kuranda Scenic Railway which was constructed between 1882 and 1891 is a spectacular journey comprising unsurpassed views of World Heritage Listed rainforest, steep ravines and picturesque waterfalls within the Barron Gorge National Park. The Skyrail which runs from outer Cairns to Kuranda, spanning 7.5kms over pristine rainforest, allows you to take a amazing experience over Australia’s World Heritage listed Tropical Rainforest canopy and deep into the forest.
It is recommended that you catch the train up to Kuranda and take the Sky rail back. You can get a package where you catch the train from Cairns Central to Kuranda with a short stop at Baron Falls. Departs at 8.30am and 9.30am. Then spend time in Kuranda and catch the Sky Rail Back stopping twice on return at the Barron Falls Station and in the heart of the rainforest at the Red Peak station. Cost approx $87.50 including transfer back to your hotel/hostel.
