Nightlife in BrisbaneBrisbane is spread out a little bit with its nightlife. You mainly have three areas. The most popular is Fortitude Valley. The Brisbane city area goes ok but has died off a little over the last couple of years. Then there is the West End district with it bars and cafes. All three area are about a 5 minute drive from each other.
In the Brisbane city areaDown Under Bar
Situated underneath the Palace Backpackers. This bar has been a backpacking institution. Great place to meet other backpackers. One of the cheapest places to drink in Brisbane. Also have good cheap meals. They usually only allow backpacker and often refuse entry to the locals.
The Victory Hotel
Been a favourite of the locals in Brisbane for a long time. Not as popular as it once was but you will still find good crowds there on weekends.
Embassy Hotel
Situated near the Victory Hotel. This place is not a place to go for a big night but does have some very good drink specials and happy hours. Good place to start of drinking in Brisbane. Also has good priced meals.
The Normanby Hotel
Situated just out of the city area. If you are going out Sunday afternoon, then head to this place. From 3pm this place is on fire. Very popular Sunday sessions, which attract thousands of locals to this huge pub. Cheap jugs of beer on a Sunday. Do not miss this place on a Sunday.
Nightlife in Fortitude ValleyThe Valley as it is known by the locals is the place you should head for a big night out. It has everything. Great restaurants, bars and nightclubs.
Family
Biggest and most popular club in Brisbane. Techno, Dance Club. $20 to get in. This club holds a couple of thousand people.
Empire Hotel
Pub style. Very popular.
Birdee Num Num
The place to meet other backpackers, situated next to Bunk Backpackers. Cheap place to drink. Backpackers often drink here before heading to the clubs.
Press Club
Is the place to go on a Monday night.
The Fringe Bar
A young Paris Hilton type club. Very popular.
